Modular Skid & Frame Detailing

This modular skid project included complete structural steel detailing for multiple preassembled skids used in oil and gas applications. Fab Steel handled 3D modeling, connection detailing, and lifting lug design as per offshore standards (DNV-ST-N0O1).

The challenge was integrating equipment weights, load paths, and access platforms into one unified structural package without fabrication conflicts.

Key Deliverables

We deliver detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for modular skids and frames, complete with transport, lifting, and installation plans optimized for off-site construction.

  • img 3D model of modular skid frames
  • img Lifting point verification and drawings
  • img Connection detailing per DNV/NORSOK
  • img Shop and assembly drawings with bolt lists
  • img Access platform and handrail detailing
  • img MTOs and part marking plans

Our Working Process

Skid detailing blends mechanical and structural accuracy. Our team followed a staged approach, beginning with layout locking, followed by lifting point validation and component framing.

icon
Model Development

Created a Steel model with accurate equipment placeholders and platform interfaces.

icon
Drawing & Detailing

Issued lifting frame details, connection drawings, and MTOs based on shipping constraints.

icon
Coordination & Optimization

Clash detection and layout verification were done for skid footprint and access clearances.

Result & Impact

The skid units were fabricated in parallel with equipment and delivered ready for offshore lifting without modification. Our clear marking plans and bolt layouts allowed seamless bolting and loading onto trailers and vessels. The project was signed off in a single QA cycle.
